B10 Jud's Trophy
Finished this block. I have survived Christmas with three branches of family without a scratch. I don't know who Jud is and why he won a trophy, but I'm proud that i made his trophy block as my 25th one.

B-9 Tinker toy
Apt that I managed to finish the Tinker Toy block on Christmas day. I rememberthat we too, received tinker toys on a Christmas day. It was my favourite. The color coded sticks and wheels. And the plastic fins.

B-8 Water Lily or is that the Bethlehem Star ?
Water lily done. Had I to coose a name it would have been closer to a Bethlehem Star with petals. I finished it early this Christmas morning, 25 December 2014. I wonder a lot about this new trend to call it holidays, and not Christmas. For me, it is Christmas. A time to share the love of Christ. Accept each other, faults and all, strange and all, unconditionally. Period. Stomp out judgement - on what ever grounds. Love. Trust. Be kind. Also to yourself. Accept kindness from other in good grace. Be blessed. That is the message of this block to me. Happy Christmas to you!

B-7 World Series.
World series in what,I wonder. In South Africa we watch rugby and Cricket. Since it doesn't look like a rugby ball, it has to be cricket: go Proteas! Make us proud!
B-6 Wild Goose Chase
On our way through the Great Karoo. We are counting bird species as we go. We now gave 120 species and a finished Wild Goose Chase.

B5 - Hot Cross Buns
Hand pieced and hand appliqued. I thonk it needs another 1/2 inch border in white. Will do that in the morning.

B3 Mirror image
Pieced by hand, this block went super fast with my new found "mark the block" tecnique. Ok this is probably one of the easier blocks, but it came out really neat and I'm pleased as pie.

B2 Sweet Tater Pie
Soetpatats is how we call it in Afrikaans. I pieced this by hand. After cutting the pieces carefully, I cut out the pieces to leave the seam allowance on the pattern piece. O then marked on the inside with a marking pen and stitched on the mark. I'll cut on the outside of the lone next time as the seams were a little wide. I'm chuffed with this block. Need to square it off still!

B-1. Batchelor Buttons
Appliqued rosettes. These are my first rosettes. I printed the block and cut out the buttons. I then traced the position through the stencil. I love the green background fabric.

I 10 - Iris Medallion
My first BOW. I think this is a little too complicated. I need to work slower and more accurate.

A-10 Which points West
After long deliberation, i decided to do this block by hand. It lies pretty flat, so I am delighted. 10 done.

A-9 Cabin Fever
Spring in South Africa. Very difficult to get cabin fever. It takes discipline to sit down and not be outside in the beautiful weather. Pretoria must have the best weather EVER!
Versions 1,2,3 and 4 are now being used to line a yuppy bird's nest somewhere in the east of Pretoria. I paper pieced this one. Praise anyone that can do this otherwise. I raise my hat!

A-8 Florence Nightingale
In South Africa we had Emily Hobhouse. She performed miracles, like Florence Nightingale. Thank you!
This block was in the box with the first try. That is about time!

A-7 Dad's Plaits
My first appliqued block. The leaves have a sexy roll on the one side, but I am pretty pleased. This means I could watch the WP - Lions final of the Currie Cup while doing this. There was a very pleasing try on the first white leaf. Are these leaves? My dad didn't have plaits. I don't have a problem with dads with plaits. Mine just didn't have them.

A-4 Courtney's Stethoscope
This looks nothing like a stethoscope to me, but it's done. Pieced. Carefully. Oops! I see now I didn't put in the corners!

A3 - Hunters Moon
No, I'm not going to applique this. Scratch around for my notes I took in Paul Schutte's class. I must have missed it. I phone Ethelda in Ireland. We decide that the piece that doesn't look to go on top, has to. I try, I fail. I try again, I trash the block. This is my third try. It probably needs a good iron again, but will have to do, for now. I see lots of drunken corners on the rest of the patterns. I'll be able to do this when I'm finished (or die trying)

A2 - One - Two Buckle My Shoe
It goes slightly better with A2. Meticulously cutting and piecing. Why am I doing this? It sort of looks like the one in the book. I'm on a roll.

A-1 Pinwheel gone Awry
So I decided to start left top at block A1. Choices, choices. After much deliberation, I decided batik. Bright colours on a neutral base. Around the world, differently.Since this whole project is to hone my piecing skills, I decide to piece as much as possible. No shortcuts. OK it looks terrible. Maybe I should have started with the easier blocks. I didn't.
